Spider FTW: 10:45
I took an early PRT (physical readiness test) in case I get the class I've been wanting at the end of this month. My push-ups and sit-ups were my usual mediocre numbers (64 & 71 respectively) but I did manage a 10:45 on my run. This is the first time I've been under 11 minutes since boot camp, if I recall correctly. So I'm pretty happy about that. Actually, I'm really happy about that. Hopefully I can keep it up.

In the last six months, I've put on about 15 pounds. How? I have no idea. So it was discouraging but it definitely helps knowing that I can still outrun most of my department. Very satisfying. I think some of the extra weight might be from microwavable food. It's really the only change in my diet. I buy food from the commissary now that I get paid for it. Air force chow halls aren't as cheap as navy galleys (the AF charges by the item instead of a flat rate for all your food) so it's not worth it for me to eat there. I save money going to the commissary. Unfortunately, the only thing I have to cook with right now is a microwave. I might see what I can do about moving off base. As I mentioned, though, I might be gone by the end of the month. I might need to figure out a way to eat healthier. At least I know I'm still in good shape. I just don't want that to change.

Damn dude, your scores are impressive! I'm curious, how much is the Navy galley? I always figured that stuff was free.

So what class are you trying to get?

I always feel my push-ups and sit-ups need improvement but I hate doing them, haha. I just like to run. I don't know how much galleys are now. BAS has gone up since I was in Korea to about $310 or something. The price usually works out to be almost exactly what they pay you for food. That's why I never have a problem eating at galleys; I'm not losing any money and I'm probably eating way more than I'm paying for. Not so at air force "dining facilities." The galley will be free for you when you first come in. You won't be getting BAS. I think the general rule is that you don't get it until you're E-5 or if, due to your work schedule, you can't go to the galley regularly. I got it in Korea because I was on a watch schedule and frequently worked mids. All the fliers get it here now (a recent development) because we deploy so often.

I might be going to a six week network administrator class at the end of the month. My request chit was left on the department LPO's desk and was forgotten about until I asked about it on Tuesday. Go figure.

That'll do it. I wouldn't worry about getting rid of it, though. I hear those things work themselves out. :-Þ

not sure if you have a fridge/freezer but you can cook veggies with those new steamer bag things. That is the healthiest thing i've been able to cook in a microwave.

Yeah, I have a fridge and freezer. I have veggies in there, too, but I've never heard of this steamer bag you speak of. I usually just heat up some frozen vegetables in the microwave.
